Author Sarah Hagger-Holt will unpack the LGBT+ history behind her award-winning novel for young people, The Fights That Make Us.
Jesse has recently come out as non-binary and is struggling to find their place at school, and ideas for their project on lost stories from history. When they uncover their mum's cousin Lisa's 1980s teenage diary hidden in a dusty attic, Jesse is fascinated and horrified by her stories of living a secret life and protesting on the streets. Now it's Jesse's turn to shine a light on a history that mustn't be forgotten.
Come along and listen, share experiences, ask questions and reflect on the struggles which have shaped you.
Sarah’s audience is typically 9 – 17-year-olds, however this event is for everyone.
