Our LGBT-friendly counsellors offer weekly or bi-weekly sessions in Milton Keynes. Contact us to book a free initial session at counselling {at} qalliance.org(.)uk. The cost of further sessions will depend on your circumstances, please email us to discuss this further.

People come to counselling to make space to look at issues in their lives. Your issues might be struggling with your sexuality, coming out, homophobia, having a bad time, having too much of a good time, gender issues, too much or too little sex, risky behaviour, body acceptance, addiction, gay kids, loneliness, wanting more confidence, loss….

All of our counsellors are experienced and comfortable in working with people who are lesbian, gay, bi, trans, straight and those who are unsure. They work to the ethics, standards and confidentiality of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. We offer counselling on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Wolverton and in Central Milton Keynes on Saturday daytimes.

Please note that although we try to give you an appointment at a time which suits you as soon as possible, there may be a wait – contact us for details. We aim to reply to all emails within 5 days.

Over the next few weeks theres a wide range of events, including social opportunities, walking groups, HIV Quicktesting, pub nights, counselling, meals out, the LGBT General Assembly (which is going to be HUGE – click here for details), International Day Against Homophobia in Football and a fantastic event looking at the life of Alan Turing at Bletchley Park in honour of LGBT History Month – check the calendar for details. A date for your calendars. On Saturday January 30th, the LGBT General Assembly 2010 (North Buckinghamshire) will be held at the Ridgeway Community Centre in Milton Keynes (map link). The objective is to bring together all those who are interested in the LGBT community in the area.

Whether you organise events or activities, or are interested in attending them, this is the opportunity. The day will consist of:

• Brief presentations by the various organisations as to what they do and offer
• Discussion as to what people would like to see as events
• Discussion on what is the LGBT community itself
• Public viewing of Olivia Humphreys’ film “Late-Comers” about “older” people coming out.

Topics to be covered include support, healthcare, sports, social evenings and more.

However, in order to do this, we need a team to work together to make this a reality.  Could you be part of that team?  Whether it be in a hands-on capacity, or in an advisory role, all input is welcomed.  This is in conjunction with our Volunteer Recruitment drive, so come along with your thoughts and ideas.

As part of Relate’s 70th birthday celebrations, the UK’s largest provider of relationship counselling and sex therapy is looking for special couples and individuals over 70 years of age to tell their stories of love and lust and how relationships have changed since the 1930’s.

The people behind the project are talking to lots of diverse people including people with disabilities, people in mixed race relationships, people who’ve moved to the UK and LGBT people.

They would preferably audio tape people but it is also possible to send in written stories. Current or old photos illustrating the stories are also welcome. Some of the interviews will be used on Relate’s website and may be included to a short booklet celebrating 70 years of relationship history. Contributors can request to remain anonymous should they choose to.
