A great job opportunity with Q:alliance…

Dear contacts,

Please find details of a great job opportunity with Q:alliance by clicking on This link HERE. (You will be taken to another page where you must click the same link again to see the ad.)

We have been awarded a grant from Milton Keynes Council to co-ordinate a project that will show:

  • An increase in numbers of men who have sex with men (MSM) having HIV test annually.
  • A decrease in late diagnosis amongst MSM (or increase in early diagnosis).
  • An increase in numbers in MSM responding to surveys reporting safer sexual practices.

We have a very short window for recruitment so i would be grateful if you could help us distribute/advertise the post to a wider audience.

With thanks,

Peter Kingham

Statement: Gay & bisexual men giving blood

As you may have seen through the national media yesterday, Health Ministers in England, Scotland and Wales have overturned an outright ban on gay men giving blood. Instead, they are now allowed to donate provided that have abstained from sex for a year. As the organisation representing Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT) people in Milton Keynes, Q:alliance would like to release this statement:

‘Q:alliance welcomes the move to allow gay, bisexual and men that have sex with men (MSM) to donate blood.

At the same time, we recognise the concern among these groups that they are still largely excluded unless they abstain from sex for a year.

Q:alliance is committed to working with other organisations to promote good sexual health among men that have sex with men.

Health promotion initiatives remain the most important part of HIV prevention, alongside regular testing.

We look forward to a time when the year long wait to give blood doesn’t exist.’
