Adoption Research Help…

Been through the adoption process? Perhaps you can help a local student with some research she is conducting:

“I am a student at De Montfort University, studying social work and I am conducting research into the experiences had by gay and lesbian couples of the adoption assessment process.

I am looking for anyone who has been through the adoption assessment who would be willing to share their experiences with me.
The research involves answering a few questions via email. All information will be kept confidential and anonymous and the research has been ethically approved by my university.
For more information, or if you would like to participate please contact me at: rose.dmu {at} gmail(.)com

FIRST EVER GAY AND LESBIAN LITERARY FESTIVAL FOR NORTHAMPTON CELEBRATES LOCAL AND NATIONAL WRITERS

booQfest

Something quirky is coming to Northampton! Venues across the town centre will be buzzing with the booQfest bug this September as the town plays host to a free book festival that views the world from a decidedly ‘queer’ perspective!

Running from 14th – 16th September, booQfest will bring together the Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual community of Northampton and beyond in a celebration of the written and spoken word.

Lesbian Gay and Bisexual Social Events Group FAN and the Northampton Gay Book Group have come together to bring to Northampton over 20 authors. This includes great gay writers such as Doctor Who novelists Paul Magrs and Gary Russell (Doctor Who) and high profile lesbian authors such as VG Lee (Always You, Edina) and Clare Summerskill (described by Radio 4’s Woman’s hour as a ‘Lesbian Victoria Wood’!)

Northampton’s own Alan Moore (V for Vendetta, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) will be booQfest’s guest of honour on Saturday evening at the Central Library with a special reading from the seminal work ‘The Mirror of Love’ and talking about his involvement with ‘Artists Against Rampant Government Homophobia’.

booQfest director and chairman of Northampton Gay Book Group, Daniel Burrows, says, “We’re very excited about bringing the first ever gay and lesbian literary festival to Northampton; especially as this is a festival that everyone can be involved in regardless of sexual identity. booQfest is all about bringing everyone together over a shared love of language and literature”.

Northampton town centre will host readings, talks, workshops and book signings scattered across four main venues: The Central Library, Waterstones, The Royal & Derngate and Abington Park – so fingers crossed for a sunny Autumn!
