The Civil Partnership Bill became law on 18 November 2004 and came into effect on 5 December 2005. Whilst there is some debate over seperate rights not being equal rights, there’s no doubt that same-sex couples across the country are finally enjoying the emotional and legal benefits of being joined in the eyes of the law.
