Q:alliance members, volunteers and stakeholders (i.e. Non-members with a interest or ’stake’ in what happens to the LGBT community in Milton Keynes) are all invited to the meeting.

The Meeting Room’s location will be in the Acorn House building (381 Midsummer Boulevard, Central Milton Keynes MK9 3HP). Please arrive at the front desk for 6:30pm, as that is when the security staff will expect people to be arriving. You shall be escorted to the meeting room from there. Please note that significantly late arrivals cannot be guaranteed entry to the premises, as it is after working hours.

Q:alliance is always on the look out for potential volunteers and trustees. It is hoped that this meeting can offer a better understanding of what we do, and allow a greater number of people that are interested to come forward and get involved. Anyone with a positive interest is welcome, and we note that the board of Trustees is currently lacking in representation of Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender people. More representation would be welcomed.

The assembly seeks to bring together all the organizations that are interested in the Lesbian, Gay, Bi- and Transgender and Questioning communities in South-East England. We aim to offer:

• · Presentations from charities and support groups, explaining what they offer and what they are seeking in terms of support, volunteers and funding;
• · An exhibition hall in which organizations can display information about what they are doing (or sell their goods);
• · An opportunity to meet and network with likeminded people;
• · An open debate / question and answer session during which you will have the opportunity to question a variety of leaders;
• · A fun and interesting day out.

It will be held again in Milton Keynes on the last Saturday in January, admission remains free to all.

This year, we are going to try to organize our speakers around a common theme:

Body, Mind and Spirit

We are seeking to identify for the moment potential speakers and exhibitors. Please register your interest as soon as possible, so that we can start planning the details of the event. You will find further details on our General Assembly page for attendees, exhibitors, speakers and sponsors, and you’ll also find there a preliminary schedule for information. Citizens Day of Action 2011

Q:alliance is a member of Citizens:MK – an alliance of community groups that works for a better Milton Keynes. It in turn is part of a national organisation (Citizens:UK) which is having its Citizens Day of Action conference in London on Monday, 2nd May 2011.

The conference celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Living Wage Campaign and the formation of the Living Wage foundation. Thanks to these campaigns, workers in larger instutions have seen their pay rise from minimum wage to a level they can survive on, known as the ‘Living Wage.’ Q:alliance has worked with Citizens:MK on the campaign in Milton Keynes, the results of which will be unveiled nationally at the conference.
