Gordon Brown made a formal apology on the British Government’s behalf but now there in an online e-petition to gain a full official pardon.

“We ask the HM Government to grant a pardon to Alan Turing for the conviction of ‘gross indecency’. In 1952, he was convicted of ‘gross indecency’ with another man and was forced to undergo so-called ‘organo-therapy’ – chemical castration. Two years later, he killed himself with cyanide, aged just 41. Alan Turing was driven to a terrible despair and early death by the nation he’d done so much to save. This remains a shame on the UK government and UK history. A pardon can go to some way to healing this damage. It may act as an apology to many of the other gay men, not as well known as Alan Turing, who were subjected to these laws.”

The assembly seeks to bring together all the organizations that are interested in the Lesbian, Gay, Bi- and Transgender and Questioning communities in South-East England. We aim to offer:

• · Presentations from charities and support groups, explaining what they offer and what they are seeking in terms of support, volunteers and funding;
• · An exhibition hall in which organizations can display information about what they are doing (or sell their goods);
• · An opportunity to meet and network with likeminded people;
• · An open debate / question and answer session during which you will have the opportunity to question a variety of leaders;
• · A fun and interesting day out.

It will be held again in Milton Keynes on the last Saturday in January, admission remains free to all.

This year, we are going to try to organize our speakers around a common theme:

Body, Mind and Spirit

We are seeking to identify for the moment potential speakers and exhibitors. Please register your interest as soon as possible, so that we can start planning the details of the event. All you need at this point is to contact me by e-mail (lgbtga {at} live.co(.)uk or ga {at} qalliance.org(.)uk), letter (see address hereunder) and tell me your level of interest. You will find further details on our General Assembly page for attendees, exhibitors, speakers and sponsors, and you’ll also find there a preliminary schedule for information. A date for your calendars. On Saturday January 30th, the LGBT General Assembly 2010 (North Buckinghamshire) will be held at the Ridgeway Community Centre in Milton Keynes (map link). The objective is to bring together all those who are interested in the LGBT community in the area.

Whether you organise events or activities, or are interested in attending them, this is the opportunity. The day will consist of:

• Brief presentations by the various organisations as to what they do and offer
• Discussion as to what people would like to see as events
• Discussion on what is the LGBT community itself
• Public viewing of Olivia Humphreys’ film “Late-Comers” about “older” people coming out.

Topics to be covered include support, healthcare, sports, social evenings and more.

We’ve developed some amazing LGBT awareness training that will appeal to all kinds of people and the profits made from running them help us to fund great services to support local LGBT people!

And now YOU can help us fill the training days and EARN MONEY for doing it! We’ve got places available on courses running from now until March 2010 and we’ll pay you commission to help us fill them.

How to earn up to £20 per booking

It’s really simple!

1) Use the publicity resources on our website and your own contacts, skill and charm to get people to register online for one or more of our training days.

2) Ask them to put your name in the ‘where did you hear about us’ box on the registration form.

3) Email us with the details and we’ll pay you 10% of the fee they pay us.

Depending on the type of organisation they work for, you could earn up to £20 per booking.

Example 1: You get someone from the public sector to book onto a full day session. They pay Q:alliance £120. We pay you £12.

Example 2: You get someone from a private company to book onto a full day session. They pay Q:alliance £175. We pay you £17.50.
